Frequently Asked Questions
Do you do home visits?
Yes, my method of delivery is to visit clients in their homes.
Do you work in a clinic?
No, I visit clients exclusively in their homes or community settings. I don’t run clinic sessions as I believe that working in a client’s real life setting leads to more practical and helpful outcomes.
Can I use my NDIS budget?
Yes, if you are Self-Managed or Plan-Managed. Enhancing Independence is not a registered NDIS business, so using NDIA-Managed plans is not available.
I live closer to the city. How far do you travel to see clients?
I travel up to an hour away from the Macedon Ranges.
Do you charge for travel time?
Yes. All fees and charges are inline with NDIS threshold rates.
What are your rates?
I follow the price guidelines set by the NDIS.
What are my payment options?
On completion of an appointment you will be sent an invoice. Payment terms are within 14 days. You can then use this tax invoice to make a claim against your NDIS plan if you have one.
What if I need to cancel a booking?
You will need to cancel a booking at least 48 hours before the appointment is scheduled. This allows me time to offer the appointment to another client. As a small business I rely on being able to schedule my time to my clients needs and last minute cancelations mean I can’t be as effective.
If you cancel a booking at least 48 hours ahead of time there is no charge for cancelling or rescheduling.
If you cancel within 48 hours you will be charged for 100% of the appointment time and the travel time.
I have an equipment emergency. Can you help?
Yes. Get in touch and I’ll endeavour to help with contacting supports and organizing hire equipment to get you through, and repairs or replacements for your equipment.
What if my NDIS application gets rejected?
Sometimes claims get rejected and if so I can help identify what the problem is. We can then look at further defining your needs and I can write more detailed and specific reports to support another claim. Having a claim rejected can be very disheartening and part of what makes Enhancing Independence different from other providers is my commitment to work alongside my clients to ensure they get the best outcomes for their needs.
Can you work together with my physiotherapist / psychologist / speech pathologist on a therapy plan?
Yes, I can work as part of a care team with other providers so your therapies run smoothly and compliment each other.
Do you work with children?
Yes, I work with school aged children and above.
My equipment (hoist, high / low bed, wheelchair) is broken or damaged. Can you help?
Yes, I can organise repairs or replacements.
Can you do assessments in my workplace / community location / place I visit frequently?
Yes, some of the best outcomes for clients are when I visit their workplace, day programs or favorite community settings. I can look at functional ways to adjust the setting to meet your needs, ways to make the most of your equipment within those settings, and skills training tailored to your workplace and community.
I know I need more assistance, but I’m not sure what to ask for. How can you help me?
You’ve come to the right place. I specialise in getting to know my clients needs and then informing them on the wide range of options that are available to them. I have an in-depth knowledge of NDIS procedures. I have expertise in equipment and services options. I can bring my knowledge of your needs together with my knowledge of the industry and the NDIS to gain you the best outcomes.
My loved one needs an Occupational Therapy assessment and ongoing help. They have an intellectual disability and are non-verbal. Can you help?
Yes, many of my clients have intellectual disabilities and many are non-verbal. One of the joys of my work is in taking the time to connect with every client and in learning to communicate in the ways most comfortable to them. I am especially mindful of communication needs when we set up new equipment, to ensure the client can always access speech-generating devices, visual aids, assistance buttons and the like.
How long is your wait list?
It varies depending on the type of service you need. Contact me to find out when I can schedule your appointment.
